Shows in Virginia
Recently attended my favorite show in beautiful Leesburg, VA at the Oatlands Plantation. It is always beautiful fall colors at this time of year but the weather can be dicey as it was this time. I did my art booth there and it rained and poured rain on Saturday, but on Sunday the sun came out and it was spectacular. Then I was home for a day and off to VA Beach, VA.
I am happy to report that Pipit, Sowagla Sportingfield Tawny Pipit was WD for his first point at the Potomac Hound Show and Koda, Sachem Remarque by Sowagla ,was WB and BOW. Then on Friday, Koda was WB again for two points.
I've included a photo of the show grounds in Leesburg early Sunday morning with the mist lifting.
Here are also two photos of pups Tomas and Raven. I am having a lot of fun with these two sweeties. Aren't they cute???

More Jake babies!
Friday was a fun, whippet day! Emily Carabello brought her litter to my house, they are 12 weeks old now and I was to choose a stud fee pup. I had seen photos but this was the first time I got to see them in person and get my hands on them. I must say it really is a pretty litter, there were 4 girls and 2 boys. The sire is my Jake, Ch Fleetwood Return to Sendr and dam is UKC Ch Sowagla Moonbeam Daytripper, or Daya. Above are the three we are keeping. Tomas, Raven and Chili.
Here is cute little Tomas.
Tomas stacked, he is staying here at Sowagla.
Raven stacked, also staying here.
Chili stacked. Emily and her friend Melissa will be showing Chili.
There are a couple more pups available from Emily so email me if you want contact information.

Here are my babies
Some candid shots of Pipit and Larkin while on a walk in the country on their co-breeders farm. Everything was so green and lush and the weather beautiful. These two pups are just the sweetest (sometimes) and a handfull (sometimes). They sure look a lot alike don't they? I can't wait to show them. These two are sired by CH Fleetwood Return to Sendr and out of the lovely Australian import Calahorra Primula. I am proud to announce that daddy Jake now has his first Champion offspring. CH Appraxin Queen of the Jungle, or Blair is she is better known by her owners Justin Smithey and Calvin Perry.

Happy Birthday Arthur
Arthur, CH Sowagla Myth Maker turned 10 on July 4th. We celebrated with extra goodies and today a photo session. Arthur is several generations of Sowagla breeding with a strong sire line of Champions and is linebred on CH Surrey Hill's Houston ROMX.
I don't have alot of baby pictures of Arthur as I didn't have a good camera at the time, but he was a standout with a lot of presence. He proved himself with that presence in the show ring and gave me some of my most thrilling wins, including an AWC supported entry win, a placement as a youngster at the AWC National, and then the following year went Winners Dog at the 2000 AWC National. He finished with three majors. Then he got a select at the Southern Specialty.
Arthur got to be a race dog for a while after finishing, competing in CWA, NOTRA and WRA. At the 2001 WRA National he received a trophy for High Scoring Bench Champion.
Arthur hasn't been used at stud extensively, but he has produced 6 Champions, more being shown and (hopefully) a litter on the way.
He is definitely King Arthur at home with my bed as his throne, there he takes his toys.... and is good about not unstuffing them, at least when they are new. He likes the ones that make funny noises the best.
Almost every day I let him run loose on the property for his "big circle" where he runs full out around our large garage and then back to the door. He really is a special guy..... Happy Birthday Arthur.
Miss Maya
Older whippets are special and I want to share some thoughts and photos.....
Miss Maya turned 10 in Nov. 2007 and so is the oldest here at Sowagla right now. She was born in Florida before I moved to North Carolina and was co-bred with Carolyn Bowers of Surrey Hill's fame. Her daddy was CH Surrey Hill Rouge of Chelsea and her mom was Lyon's-Surrey Hill's Scarlet from the successful cross of Houston ROMX and Misty's Sure to Tick ROMX. Maya was never real enthusiastic about showing but finished and became CH Sowagla Masquerade. Maya is camera shy and so it has always been difficult to get good photos of her, but she has the most beautiful eyes, so typical and sought after in a whippet, deep dark round liquid pools. Maya is quiet and unassuming and just an all-round good girl. I cherish her.

Super weekend in Richmond VA
Had great success in the ring in Richmond this past weekend. Merlin was WD/BOW on both days, adding 4 more points to his total..... now I will need to look for majors. I showed Koda (Sachem Remarque by Sowagla) on Sunday only and she got RWB. Will post photos when I get them.
Other news... Jake x Daisy pup, Winter Wren was picked up by her new owner, Barb Timm of Michigan, at the show. She has now been dubbed Flicker, which is still a bird name, and it fits her well. Here are the two of them before hitting the road.
