AWC National News

OK, I admit, I am a bit belated here in posting about the National since it was the beginning of April, but I have been so busy...... (excuses, excuses) This year's national was again a great one, with good attendence, tons of beautiful whippets and lots of fun. The show committee made sure it was a National to remember. For those who have never been, the National is always held in April but moves around to different parts of the country. It is always held in the ballroom of a nice hotel. This years was at the Marriott Griffin Gate Hotel/Resort in Lexington, KY. What a beautiful part of the country and the hotel was top notch. Imagine one whole section of the hotel filled with whippets with 612 entered in conformation, and a total of 931 entries in all the events, which include, sweeps, futurity, obedience and rally. Plus prior to the show at the hotel, there was a coursing event nearby. I didn't go to that. I was vendor chair this year and was at the hotel helping the vendors get situated. And wow, the vendors, everything you could want whippet related! I myself, have only a couple little brags; a second place in Novice bitch with Tyme and a 4th in Brace with the boys, Merlin and Robbie.

Sonya and Heather, Myles x Buffy girls

I have two female puppies still available from the litter of CH Sowagla Quick Silver to Taejann x Shamasan Houndhill In The Buff litter. They are 10 weeks old now, Sonya is red brindle with a black mask and Heather is blue brindle with a blue mask. They are outgoing, happy pups with great personalities. I have a stacked, side shot of each of the pups along with a head shot. The only one there is not a head shot included is the red girl, Nina. But there is a very cute one of her in the candid shots that shows her pretty face.

Had a lovely visit from Steve Surfman and his wife Lisa. If you don't know he is an awesome photographer and does a lot of dog shows and events. Here are some really cute candids of the pups.

We also did stacked photos and got lovely head shots too. Some of the pups were really co-operative and some were not when it came to stacking them. Lisa was jumping up and down squeaking a stuffed frog to get their attention and I was trying to bait them with Vienna sausages. All this fuss was met with limited sucess and in too much sucess when they tried too hard to get the sausages.

Each of the brindle boys have a different color collar on.

My Litter and how they grow

Every week there are new changes in the pups and they are so much fun to watch and play with. It was time for the litter of 12 to get a new outdoor setup so they have more room to run and play, so that is what I did on Monday. Now the babies are spending their days outside in the fresh air and sunshine in a bigger pen and I am putting them up in crates at night instead of the indoor expen. The first whole night in the crates went well. No crying and no accidents. I was up at 6:00 am and carrying them outside where they have their breakfast. Here are a few recent pictures. This weekend, I will be getting more formal stacked photos of all 12.

On another note, I did go to dogshows in Greenville, SC this past weekend. Met up with friends and had a lovely time. My goal of finishing Koda or Merlin did not happen, tho they both placed well. It was a huge whippet entry with majors in both sexes. No more dog shows now until the majority of these babies go to their new homes. Now that they are older, they are even more work!! But those of you who know me know that it is a labor of love.
