Tia and Mira go coursing

My dear friends Ute and Doug Soles went coursing last weekend with Tia, CH Sowagla Dynia Tianna and Mira, Sowagla Appraxin Hearts Desire. The girls had been practicing but this was their first real meet. It was held in Riedsville, NC by MAHA. On Sat. April 18th, both Tia and Mira were NBQ their first time running. On Sunday, Tia was sidelined by a cut stopper pad, but Mira was 2nd for 21 points. Way to go girls.

Buffy came home with me

Let me introduce Buffy, Shamasan Houndhill In the Buff. Phoebe Booth was kind enough to let me bring her home after I fell for this lovely little lady. Well, little Buffy was in full season so she has been bred to my half Australian boy, Select CH Sowagla Quick Silver to Taejaan. Keep watching here for updates. Hopes are for a litter due in June!

And gorgeous Oberon, and a tale of a loose whippet

Here is Paige Zalnoski, my dear friend showing her wonderful special Oberon, CH Dynia Sowagla Oberon. This photo was taken by her husband Michael since Paige was in the ring. Oberon is a real look-alike of his daddy Arthur, my special boy Ch Sowagla Myth Maker who was WD at the 2000 AWC National Specialty.
I have to add here what a hero Michael was at the National. He only came one day to spend with us as he was transporting some goods in a large trailer on his monthly run. When heading to the hotel in the morning he spotted a whippet running loose so he immediately followed. Unknown to him, a little bitch had escaped from her pen. Anyway, he followed her in his van for over 4 miles, keeping between her and the busy road. After 4 miles she finally stopped from exhaustion. Michael got out of the van and the bitch still wouldn't let him approach her, so he LAID DOWN IN THE ROAD and she came to investigate... then he grabbed her leg and so caught her. Her owner was so stunned as she was thinking the worst. A happy ending!!

More National Stuff... big brags....

My big huge, super dooper brag for the National is my Jaykie-man! Jake, showed absolutely wonderfully and judge M. Hagstedt awared him a select placement. This is a HUGE honor, so now he is Select CH Fleetwood Return To Sendr. I want to thank all the wonderful people ringside who clapped and cheered in his support and also those who took note of all his beautiful offspring that were shown this week. Thank you so much!

Thanks also to Chris Durrance-Watkins who showed my beautiful Gillian, CH Sportingfield Stone of Destiny. She made the cut and looked so wonderful.

Here is my Koda on the table being examined by judge M. Hagstedt. In the end, he awarded her a 4th place in the absolutely huge open bitch class. Koda is Sachem Remarque by Sowagla, also sired by Jake and out of the beautiful CH Sowagla Dynia Galadriel. She was bred by Paula Milnes.

American Whippet Club National Specialty

Above is the Jake, CH Fleetwood Return to Sendr in the stud dog class, handled by me, for his get, Koda, handled by Emily Carabello and Jewel, handled by Justin Smithey.

This is Sowagla Enigma at Simbali or Emma in the 12-18 class handled by owner and friend, Ann Meyer. Emma is sired by Select Ch. Sowala Quick Silver of Taejaan, out of Ch. Sowagla Dynia Tianna.

Here is beautiful Tomas having fun with toys in the hotel room. He did not show but went to his new home in Florida with Donna LaRiche, after the National.

This is Cricket or Sowagla Nevesongbird of Sportingfield owned and shown by Barbara Timm.

Here is my Raven, or Moonbeam Sowagla N sportingfld Gothic Girl, bred by Emily Carabello, owned and shown by me. Raven was 2nd in her Futurity class and made the cut in regular classes. She is sired by Jake, Ch Fleetwood Return to Sendr, out of Sowagla Moonbeams Day Tripper.

Wow, I can't believe it has been a week already since I drove home from the National in Atlanta, GA. I had so much fun showing dogs, showing and selling artwork in my booth, visiting with friends and staying with three really good friends in the beautiful Atlanta Hilton Hotel. The show was huge, and judge Magnus Hagstedt did a wonderful job of sorting through all his beautiful entries, as did Carolyn Bowers in the futurity and all the other super judges. Anyway, here are some photos taken by one of my good friends and roomies, Paige Zalnoski, along with the highlights for me.
