Two male whippet pups available now

I have two beautiful brindle boys available with amazing personalities. So darn cute! They are 10 weeks and ready to go to new homes. They will make great pet/companions but I am sure they would love any dog sports you want to participate in including lure coursing or show. My beautiful Patchouli is being shown by whippet handler extraordinaire, Lesley Anne Potts. She got a wonderful win under judge Sharon Sakson, Best of Breed for a 5 point major and just yesterday got another BOB for two points. Choo was co-bred with and is co-owned by long time breeder Calvin G. Perry. She is formally known as Sowagla Appraxin Patchouli.

The latest news from Sowagla

The American Whippet Club National Specialty is over and I sure had fun attending this year. It was at a lovely resort in Huron, Ohio. Lots of beautiful whippets as usual and I had my art booth there along with lots of other talented vendors.
Now I am home and no plans for shows for a bit. I will get back into the swing of things this summer. In the meantime, I have bred Buffy to Jake and she is definitely in whelp. You can see Buffy and Jake on my website at http://www.sowaglawhippets.com/

Also I just took in two dogs of my breeding, their owners circumstances changed and he could no longer care for them. So they are available and photos of them as well as info on them is on my website as well. Buddy is 10 years young, and Blaze is 2 years old. A couple great dogs with no issues, housebroken and neutered and up to date on vaccines. Just looking for the right forever homes.

Puppies available from recent litters

I have three very nice pups available. The older female was born Nov. 23, 2011. Autumn is a super cute, curvy, brindle and white ball of fun. She was the only pup in the litter so has had so much special attention, she thinks the world revolves around her!! The other two are from the younger litter born Dec. 20, 2011, a brindle and white girl, Lara and her brother Story who is white with brindle spots. Very sweet and cuddly pups!! Puppies!!!

I can't believe it has been so long since I have posted! Wow, my most recent litter was born just before Christmas and pups are almost ready to go to new homes. I have several available to pet homes. They are all gorgeous brindles with white trim.

What's happening at Sowagla Whippets

Lots! First, I have no pups available at this time but have a litter due just before Christmas. Dam is CH Sporting Fields What Ever and sire is Can CH Sporting Fields Spot On of Albelarm. My beautiful girl Tyme, Sporting Fields Tyme to fly had a litter of one! Sire is Ch Sowagla Quick Silver to Taejaan and puppy girl is brindle and white parti color. I am thinking of the name Autumn Wind because it was blowing like crazy the day she was born.

New work has been done on my property..... had a big concrete slab laid for my kennel pens. Will have to post a photo when it is all done. I haven't put up the runs yet. The dogs go out in the runs when the weather is nice only. We have had a very warm fall but it is starting to get cold now, well I guess that is OK since it is Dec. 1.

Show news: Had a good time at the Southern Specialty in Atlanta in October. Lots of ribbons and trophies and placements. Spent time with good friends and good dogs and just generally had fun. The star of the show for me and co-owner, co-breeder Calvin G. Perry was our red girl Sowagla Appraxin Patchouli. She was best opposite in sweepstakes at the MAWA specialty and then BEST In SWEEPSTAKES at the Southern Specialty. We are very proud of this beautiful girl.

Cute pup available now from current litter

This little cutie is ready to go to a new home. He is a pet/companion quality, AKC whippet from my current litter announced below. I will also have a show quality male available from this litter in the near future. I am just letting the show prospects grow out a bit more before they are off to thier new homes. Show news.... and puppy news!!

Where does the time go. Meant to get this news posted way before now. Koda had her puppies sired by Stephen, Am. Can. CH Festiva's Been There Done That. We got the breeding done just in time as Stephen is having a holiday in Europe. He went to the World Dog Show in Paris and is staying in Italy for an extended period. Back to the litter, we got 8 pups, 2 girls and 6 boys, all fawn and white. And they are 5 1/2 weeks old as I write this post. Wow. Will have to get some cute pics posted in the next couple days. In the meantime, here is a photo of Byron.

What a thrill to get this lovely win on my young dog Sowagla Dynia Gothic Romance. He got a 3 point major from the 6-9 puppy class. And the win photo turned out pretty good too!

Available female whippet pups

The babies are 12 weeks old now and I have chosen to hold on to a boy and a girl so I have two beautiful girls available for sale. One is Eustacia, a fawn brindle who looks so much like her sire, the other is smaller and oh so cute, Kristy. Kristy is white with brindle head markings. Puppy progress

Three weeks old now and time to move out of the whelping box, more room to stretch those little legs.... they will be running soon, tho they are only toddling now. Got some pics of them in their bed today. Some sleeping, some playing and some just looking cute.

Puppies have arrived!!

Rowans pups were born on Friday, May 6. There are 5 girls and 1 boy. Here are photos of the babies at 1 week.

PCA and some gorgeous whippet boys

Following my AWC National adventure, I went to the Poodle Club of America National Specialty in Salisbury, MD. No, I don't have any poodles, but I have done a lot of poodle artwork! I met with Michael and Murray, who had a booth there, featuring my artwork and some lovely original statues. I was there so people could "meet the artist."

The poodle show was incredible, beautiful dogs. I am sharing a couple photos I took of the ring. It is in an expo center, but they actually bring in sod so the dogs have a grass surface to show on. In the corners of the rings, beautiful decorations which included life size poodles made of flowers! So cool.

While there, I met with Steve Surfman and his wife Lisa, as Steve was doing the photography. Steve and Lisa got two whippet boys from me, and boy are they maturing and looking good. Milo, the older one wasn't as co-operative for his photo that day so I am in it, but Sloan handled it like a pro and we got some pretty good photos of him. The boys really looked great and they sure love Steve and Lisa!!

AWC National News

OK, I admit, I am a bit belated here in posting about the National since it was the beginning of April, but I have been so busy...... (excuses, excuses) This year's national was again a great one, with good attendence, tons of beautiful whippets and lots of fun. The show committee made sure it was a National to remember. For those who have never been, the National is always held in April but moves around to different parts of the country. It is always held in the ballroom of a nice hotel. This years was at the Marriott Griffin Gate Hotel/Resort in Lexington, KY. What a beautiful part of the country and the hotel was top notch. Imagine one whole section of the hotel filled with whippets with 612 entered in conformation, and a total of 931 entries in all the events, which include, sweeps, futurity, obedience and rally. Plus prior to the show at the hotel, there was a coursing event nearby. I didn't go to that. I was vendor chair this year and was at the hotel helping the vendors get situated. And wow, the vendors, everything you could want whippet related! I myself, have only a couple little brags; a second place in Novice bitch with Tyme and a 4th in Brace with the boys, Merlin and Robbie.

Young adult male available to approved home

I have a beautiful 2 year old male whippet that I have decieded to part with to just the right home. He is fawn and white, big and elegant and has been shown in conformation. Litter expected first week in May

Here is a photo of mom to be, Rowan. She is Appraxin Rowan Wood of Sowagla and has been bred to Sel. CH Fleetwood Return To Sendr, Jake. This is a co-breeding with Calvin G. Perry of Appraxin fame. We are both looking forward to what should be a beautiful and colorful litter. Stay tuned for news of these babies.
